UENR host OWSD 2nd Africa Regional Conference

15 October,2013City Auditorium

I am delighted to announce and invite you to partner with us for the 2nd Organization of Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) Africa Regional Conference to be held October 15-18, 2013 at the Tyco City Hotel Sunyani, Ghana, under the theme Climate Change and its Impact on Africa: the Role of Science and Engineering for Combat. The conference is expected to bring at least 500 delegates from across Africa and other regions both in the developing and developed world to Sunyani for three days of intense round table discussions, as well as plenary and parallel technical sessions to discuss the looming crisis of climate change, its implications for Africa, and the contributions that African scientists can make towards climate change mitigation and adaptation. As such, the conference will make a necessary contribution to the increasing understanding of Africa’s climate systems, awareness of the climate change problem, its current and potential impact as well as tangible ways of alleviating its effects. It will also provide an indispensable platform for female scientists to exchange thought- provoking ideas and research, and thus be better equipped to make meaningful scientific contributions in Africa and across the world, in fulfilment of the objectives of OWSD.This is indeed a unique opportunity, and I look forward to partnering with you in making it a reality. Thank you for your interest and support.Prof. (Mrs.) Esi Awuah, Vice Chancellor, University of Energy and Natural Resources; Executive Board Member, OWSD Africa Region
